Design Writing Community Project Illustrator Art Work

Post by Ahad »

The thematic project "Bio Art/Design Writing Community" was subsidized by the 2019 National Arts Association Phenomenal Writing. This article is the first of the four articles. At the beginning, I will introduce the Bio Art & Design Award in the Netherlands (Bio Art & Design Award) , hereinafter referred to as the operation mode of the BAD award), consider whether the award sets a "paradigm" in the field of bio art (bio art) and bio design (bio design), will it destroy the experimental nature of cross-disciplinary practice? With this awareness of the problem, I hope to respond to the above research questions through the initiation of this special project. In the plan, three scholars from different fields are invited to write comments on the winning works of the 2019 BAD award and the bio-art exhibition in the Netherlands that year. Therefore,

this article will also introduce the goals and vision of this special project, and guide the reader to the next three articles written by different scholars around the same research object. the Netherlands and was established in 2010. From 2010 to 2013, the name of the competition was called Designers & Artist 4 Genomics Award. Since 2014, officially named the BAD award, this competition aims to encourage the creation of bioart and biodesign, and through this award serves as a platform to match artists, designers and bioscience institutions in the Netherlands. The reason why this award is called a platform for scientific and artistic cooperation is that this competition is not a competition for completed works, but through three different stages of screening process to achieve dialogue and collaboration between creators and scientific institutions. . The current jury chair for this award is American curator and author William Myers,

who is also the author of two important books in the field of bioart and biodesign published by Thames & Hudson, Biodesign Nature + Science + Creativity (2012) and Bio Art: Altered Realities (2015). The entire award is mainly co-hosted by several important cultural and scientific related institutions in the Netherlands. Now the main responsible institutions are the medical research institution ZonMW in The Hague, the art center MU Artspace in Anhofen, and the bioart institution BioArt Laboratories. This award is divided into three stages. In the first stage, the organizer will put the information of the invited 12 groups of Dutch life science-related scientific units on the official website, and will also hold a call for submissions to invite artists and designers from all over the world. Teachers sign up for this award. Interested creators can first make a preliminary idea and write a plan for the first stage based on the information of these 12 scientific units, and attach their portfolio and resume in order to complete the registration procedures.
